What Are the Different Senior Living Care Levels?

There comes a time in all of our lives when we start to slow down. After subjecting our bodies fully to the rigors of life, it’s only natural that they begin to show their wear. Reaching the venerable age where our daily activities begin to feel troublesome without assistance is a badge of honor. Sometimes the level of care a loved one needs to live a productive and comfortable life is hard to offer. Did you know that 16.9% of the population of the United States is aged 65 or older? That’s a lot of people who need help in one form or another. One of the solutions to elderly care is to consider long-term independent or assisted living accommodation. If you’re curious to learn more about the different senior living care levels available, read on to find out more!

Senior Living Care Levels

Depending on the current vigor of your loved one and their desire to retain as much autonomy as possible, different levels of care are available. We understand that every senior is an individual and has needs specific to themselves. No single level of care is a good fit for everyone, so there are a few options to consider. Typically, the more care someone needs, the more costly their care will be. As your loved one’s general ability decreases, the amount of attention they require grows. At Alura Senior Living in Rockledge, Florida we have a range of options to ensure the best levels of senior care available. We’re proud to offer different types of care for seniors tailored to the specific needs and desired lifestyle of your loved one.

Independent Living

The independent level of care offered at Alura Senior Living has been designed for seniors who are able-bodied and want to live in luxury. All the usual hassle of doing chores has been removed from the equation. This allows your parents or loved ones to relax and make the most of their time in comfort.A wide range of group activities are available within our resort-style community, so there’s always something to do or to look forward to. Independent living care is the most unobtrusive of our options and allows for a more free and less regimented approach to life in senior housing.Independent living is a life unrestricted, where seniors can socialize with friends and neighbors in an atmosphere of refinement and luxury. While living on site, all the amenities they could want are close to hand, including any help if they need it.

Assisted Living

Assisted living is much the same as independent living. The only difference is that if there’s anything your loved one requires in the form of assistance for their day-to-day life, they’ll receive it. A nurse will be on hand to help with whatever assistance they might require. With age comes frailty, and we lose many of the abilities we used to take for granted. Things like getting dressed in the morning or taking a shower become difficult or even impossible to do alone. With assisted living, tasks that require a helping hand can be done with the aid of a professional care worker. This means no more worrying about how your loved one is getting on alone. You can relax knowing they’re getting the best care available while they enjoy a luxurious life among their friends and peers.

Memory Care

One of the more difficult aspects of our later years is dealing with memory loss and general cognitive function. The best way to tackle the stress of lost memory is to include activities and care specifically intended to help keep aging minds sharp. Loss of memory can include forgetting where they are, or who they’re talking to. Memory loss can be particularly disorienting and stressful. It’s important that every caregiver is well-versed and educated on how best to treat seniors who might be struggling. A few kind words and a comforting touch are often appreciated. This form of residential long-term care provides specialized assistance for elders who struggle with mild to severe memory loss. Nurses are always on hand to support and reassure those who feel disorientated or otherwise assist with their daily tasks.

Respite Care

Caring for someone can quickly become a full-time job. It’s common for people to feel worn down while looking after themselves and someone else at the same time. Catering to the needs of someone else when they need a lot of help can become a daunting task. It’s important to remember to look after yourself as well. Respite care allows for the primary caregiver to take a well-needed break from their duties, allowing them time to recharge their batteries. To take care of someone else’s needs is an honorable pursuit, but don’t forget about your own. Primary caregivers need to remember to look after themselves to continue looking after someone else! Respite care is also available to seniors who need extra assistance to recuperate after surgery. We arrange extra help to ensure seniors recuperate in comfort as quickly as possible.

No matter the age, everyone deserves a certain level of comfort and stability. At Alura Senior Living in Rockledge, FL, we’ve strived to create an atmosphere that goes far beyond what you might expect from a senior living community.
